Helping Everyone Go Back To School

Today in Cedar Rapids several area businesses joined with Diversity Focus and Jane Boyd Community House to ensure that students in the community have access to the necessary supplies to go back to school.

Free food, games and school gear were available at the Paul Engle Center thanks to donors Rockwell Collins, Norwood, Hamilton College, Kmart, Fareway, Pepsico and Staples. Those who came by for the free supplies were able to play bingo or have their face painted during the community celebration.

President Bush and his father, President Bush, are proud of Cedar Rapids providing the nation with an example of compassionate conservatism in action.

Thank you all for being points of light here in Iowa.

The speeches after the straw poll scared the bejesus out of me. They still are clinging to the war in Iraq as being a response to 911, spawning fears from the "brown menace" and immigration and attacking Democrats as tax and spend when we see how well they can handle the economy and deficits. I can't believe anybody would support those guys anymore. But then, as a Hawkeye fan I am always skeptical of anything coming out of Ames. Hope you had a great weekend.
